I traveled to Chicago recently, and spent the better part of a day at the Field Museum. There was a kiosk display of the saber-tooth tiger skull compared to herbivores and modern-day house cats. I am still in awe of the power just in the fossilized skull – let alone the power it would have had covered in muscle and driven by instinct and hunger.
